Experience Michiana is made possible in part by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tonight, we'll hear about how Aseracare Hospice is helping to honor veterans in our area and we'll get details on the 1st Annual Michiana Knitathon at the DoubleTree by Hilton in South Bend. We'll learn about the newest production of Civic Theatre, "Take Me Out." We will meet "Biscuit", a cute cat looking for a home. Finally we'll hear what's happening In the Bend.
Aseracare Hospice is helping to honor veterans in our area with special pinning & certificate presentations. In fact, they've honored over 500 vets over the last several months. In many cases, this is the first time some of our area vets have been told, "Thank you for your service". James Witty talks about the involvement of Aseracare Hospice in these presentations and what it means to the vets and their families.
The 1st Annual Michiana Knitathon happens Friday, November 7th from noon-midnight at the DoubleTree by Hilton in South Bend. The event will feature a diverse group of knitters and crocheters making scarves. All proceeds, donations and knitted items will go to benefit St. Margaret's House, a day center for women. Gabrielle Robinson and Kathleen Neal tell us that all levels are welcome and instruction will be available for beginners.
Aaron Nichols and Steve Cole tell Gordy about the newest production of the South Bend Civic Theatre, "Take Me Out", which opens Friday and runs through November 23rd. The play is smart, funny and thought provoking and is about a baseball team who are forced to confront the changing dynamics of their team, when one of their players announces that he is gay. Note: "Take Me Out" contains some adult language, situations and partial nudity and it is recommended that audience members are 16 or older. www.sbct.org
