The Scholastic Art Awards show that is currently on display at the South Bend Museum of Art is an annual showcase of the talent in our region. Krista Bailey shows us a unique way to experience sustainability in Michiana. The Seed to Feed program at Church Community Services in Elkhart is offering a series of free, 1-hour community classes about different gardening topics. The Hammer & Quill is a local bar in downtown South Bend that celebrates its community by supporting local artists.

Courtney found out about this annual competition and what makes it so special. The show is on exhibit until March 12th. This is a judged show and the Gold Key winners have a chance to compete for national prizes in New York City.
Krista Bailey shows us a unique way to experience sustainability in Michiana. One of the pieces that will be performed by the South Bend Symphony Orchestra on February 26th is a piece called “Terra Nostra”. Krista had a chance to talk with the composer of Terra Nostra to learn how he took his passion for music and his passion for the environment to create something with wonderful music and stunning visuals. Christophe shares a little about the process and what he’s hoping people who come will take away from the experience.

The Hammer & Quill is a local bar in downtown South Bend that celebrates its community by supporting local artists. They open the space on their walls for artists to showcase their work. For the first time they will have a 3 dimensional art show featuring the pottery work of two artists from Fire Arts, Inc. Courtney talked with one of the Partners of The Hammer & Quill to find out why supporting local artists is so important, and she talked to the two artist that are featured in the show which is called “Two Views Three Dimensions”. Artists Beau Bilenki and Deborah Hershey Miller share some of their work that ranges from functional to artistic pieces.
