The Birdsell Project’s Summer 2018 Artist Residency Exhibit, which presents new site-specific installations at Vested Interest in South Bend, Indiana. Nine artists-in-residence-- Versia Harris, Krista Hoefle, Eli Kahn, Marissa Klee-Peregon, Adelaine Muth, Christyn Overstake, Sadie Sheldon, Nalani Stolz, Nayeon Yang --have transformed these old industrial spaces into magical and strange new environments. Working with fiber, sound, projection, found objects, and a range of other media, their work explores concepts of space, community, identity, decay, and more.
The show’s location, Vested Interest, is a former dry cleaning facility in South Bend. Formerly Ziker Cleaners, this industrial building has been transformed into a home for educational and creative ventures in South Bend and is hosting The Birdsell Project for this summer's residency and exhibition. As you wander through the installations that have been created inside the space, you can still see the history and remnants of industry that have been left behind.
