Octavia Butler’s 1993 novel, Parable of the Sower, was selected as the most influential science fiction book of the last 125 years by New York Times readers. Professor Darryl Heller, Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and Director of the IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center, joins April Lidinsky to discuss the ambitious novel, which takes on climate change, environmental justice, and envisions an earth-based religion designed to inspire the next generations.
