WNIT is Michiana's Largest Classroom

PBS sets the gold standard for production of children's programming. In addition to high production and entertainment values, PBS children's content is distinguished by its outstanding educational value. Across its schedule, PBS seeks to provide two to eight year old viewers with engaging, age-appropriate curriculum-based content covering all aspects of child development and early learning--social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development

  • The WNIT Kids Club was active in the Tri-County Head Start Fun Fair Berrien Springs, Michigan, the Cat in the Hat birthday party for Dr. Seuss at University Park mall in Mishawaka, the Summer Reading Program at Granger's Heritage Square and the WNIT Kids Day in the Park at St. Patrick's Park, with over 300 parents and kids in attendance.
  • WNIT staff members attended the Elkhart County "Success by Six" Early Childhood Summit in Goshen to learn the latest in early childhood development training and share PBS Learning Media resources with those in attendance. We later broadcast one-minute Parenting Tips that were taped at the Summit.
  • WNIT supplies activity books and other educational materials to the St. Joseph County Public Library system's "Reading Corners."
  • For Me, for You, for Later: First Steps to Spending, Sharing and Saving is a project developed by the Sesame Workshop and funded by PNC Foundation and PNC Grow Up Great to help young children prepare for success in school and life. Locally, WNIT partnered with PNC to produce a series of 10 one-minute educational vignettes that help area children learn the fundamental skills of earning, spending, saving, sharing and growing money.
