“Richard Hunt: Past & Present”, is on display at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts now through December 9.  We will be having Suzanne Cohan-Lange & CarolAnn Brown, who has both worked extensively with Richard Hunt, talking about this great artist and his accomplishments.  The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located in Michigan City, IN.

Encounters at the End of the World” is the movie that Jon will be recommending on this week’s Vickers Review.  Directed by Werner Herzog, this film takes us to Herzog’s final frontier – Antarctica. Partially funded by the Discover Channel, this documentary will entice viewers with magnificent views of a Continent that very few people explore.

She is back and making a great fall dessert that will put everyone in a Thanksgiving mood!  Rachel Shenk from Rachel’s Bread in Goshen is preparing Pumpkin “Swoon” Cookies.  Made with real pumpkin and covered with caramel frosting, this cookie will have you swooning for another one!

Recipe:

1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. pumpkin
2 eggs
1 1/2 t. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. salt
3/4 c. pecans

Caramel Frosting Recipe:

1/2 c. brown sugar
3 T. butter
1 T. milk
1/2 to 3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar, add pumpkin, eggs and vanilla and beat well.  Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt and blend well.  Add this mixture to creamed mixture and stir in, then fold in nuts.  Drop by tablespoon onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 11 to 12 minutes or until firm to touch. 

Heat the above three ingredients just until sugar is dissolved.  Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth.

We will be enjoying the sounds of our musical guest, jazz pianist, Jean Prosper.  With his great gift of music, Jean has performed all over the United States and Canada.  The home audience will be getting the pleasure of listening to him perform, “Things Ain't What They Used to Be”, a Duke Ellington classic, on tonight’s episode of Open Studio.

We first featured Cheri Hallwood & Patricia Rose on last season’s Open Studio with their first book, “Winter’s First Snowflake”.  Since than that particular book has received the Mom’s Choice Award in the Children’s Holiday Category, a great accomplishment for these two ladies.  This time Cheri and Patricia will be discussing their second book, “The Curious Polka-Dot Present”, another great book full of colorful illustrations.

If you love the thrill of a roller coaster, than the Toboggan Run at Pokagon State Park may be what you are looking for on our Experience Michiana segment.  The quarter mile track can get up to speeds of 35 to 40 miles an hour and opens up the Friday after Thanksgiving through February!
