A self-taught artist, Jamie Hakes’s artwork is very colorful and can even be seen on t-shirts and coffee mugs. She says that 90% of her life is represented in each piece of artwork and she loves to create, whether it is drawing, painting, sewing, or making jewelry. Jamie is preparing to self publish a book of poetry and artwork and also has ideas for a children's book in the near future. Check our more of her work at the following websites:

On this week’s Vickers Review, Jon recommends seeing the film, “I’m Not There.” This movie is based on seven distinct stages of Bob Dylan’s life. Several actors portray him throughout the movie, like Heath Ledger and Cate Blanchett. There are factual and fiction storylines in this film but they are strung together to illustrate the life of a iconic singer-songwriter known all over the world.
P.S. You will love the soundtrack!

We are in the month of November and soon it will be Thanksgiving! Mike Petrucelli from the South Bend Tribune gives a tip that will make our turkey nice and juicy.
“By soaking a turkey in salt water, you'll end up with a nice juicy bird. First you need to make sure you buy a turkey labeled fresh or natural, with nothing added. Fill a clean bucket large enough to hold your turkey with 2 or 3 gallons of water and about 1 cup of table salt per gallon. Put the turkey in and brine in the refrigerator (although I use my garage if it's cold enough) for about four hours or so, depending on the size. Cut the salt in half if it's easier for you to soak the turkey over night.
Take the turkey out, rinse it well, inside and out and blot it dry with paper towels.
What happens during brining is that the salt draws the moisture out of the turkey. But then, the salty liquid begins to flow back into the meat. The extra salt helps the turkey stay moist and helps you be the hero.”

Consisting of twelve people, our music group tonight is a Latin Jazz & Salsa Orchestra. Orquesta Caribe is one of our largest musical guests to appear on Open Studio. Each member of the group is a talented individual but when you combine them together the end result is a sensational sound! The piece they will be performing tonight is, “Lloraras”, a song that will make you want to get up and salsa! Make sure to catch them at a local venue near you.
