About WNIT

Michiana's Public Television. Television worthy of your trust.

The Michiana Public Broadcasting Corporation Is An Essential Community-Based Organization Dedicated to the Educational Power of Television.

The Mission

WNIT is a trusted, community owned public media source that is dedicated to inspire, inform, educate, entertain and unify the communities we serve.

The Vision

Using the converged power of television, computers and the Internet, WNIT will become a local hub of telecommunications activity. Our outreach services will be a personal link to the community augmenting the use of the multi-media technology we provide. We will optimize our assigned bandwidth with a broadcast schedule that works in conjunction with computer technology and outreach services by acquiring, producing and distributing national, regional, statewide and local content that meets the needs specific to Michiana. WNIT will be a leading partner in forging alliances with non-profit and for-profit entities as they relate to the mission of WNIT.

Guiding Principles

As we make decisions that relate to the mission, we will be guided by the following principles:

* Content will meet at least one of the following positive objectives:

  • It inspires
  • It informs
  • It educates
  • It entertains
  • It unifies the community

* We will champion the right of every citizen in Michiana to have free access to the multi-media world

* All activity will exist to support the not-for-profit mission of the station

* We will provide a safe, forgiving, not-threatening environment for multi-media students to learn their craft when it does not detract from the professionalism of the operation
